collections

Lately I have been stumped as how to
decorate the large blank wall
in our family room, and the large
blank wall in our breakfast room...
Yes, we've lived in our new home for over
a year, but with a precious 9 month old
these projects often
get bumped to the back burner.

Yesterday, Nester suggested that collections
are a great way to get away with using your everyday clutter accessories.
By displaying accessories as a collection the items become purposeful.

I thought I'd share one of my favorite walls in our home...
it holds many wonderful memories from our life together.
First comes love, then comes marriage,
then comes a baby in a baby carriage!

When we first moved into our home this was the wall in our "formal" sitting room...
about 9 months later it became the wall in our playroom.
I love how these black and white beauties are so versatile!

Now, had these all been displayed on tables,
they would've been lost and couldn't have made such a statement.

Wanna know a secret?
Most of these weren't originally black...
it just took a single can of black spray paint
for the transformation!
In the marker for frames?
Before you check out the discount stores,
hit up the unfinished wood section at your local hob lob.
then grab a can of spray paint and get busy!

Check out what other people display in collections here

I definitely got some great ideas for our empty walls!
I'm off to search the house to come up with more collections!

::update::
I found a few more collections around our home...

whenever a cork is popped, everyone present
signs and dates it and the event is recorded on each cork.
it's so fun to go through them!
fond memories.

my flower pot collection was snagged at
our local Home Goods this past spring!
love it.

i must give credit where credit is due.
little one gets all the credit for this collection!

  2. your wall looks great! I also came over from the nester links. I really like the crown moulding shelves, I'm deciding if I want to go with something like this in my family room, so thanks for sharing!
